StopHarbor

Home / Use cases

Split a stop list between employees without the guesswork.

Counting off the first ten addresses to one employee and the next ten to another creates routes that crisscross. A fair split groups nearby work and respects what each person can actually do.

Start from geography

The cheapest drive is the one you never make. StopHarbor groups stops that are close together, keeps ZIP codes together where it can, and only then orders each employee's stops by road. That avoids two people driving past each other's stops all day.

Then account for people

  • Experience: give a new employee a smaller percentage of the day.
  • Capacity: set a maximum number of stops for a part-time shift.
  • Skills: pin specialized jobs to the person qualified to do them.
  • Location: an employee who lives across town can start from home.

Check the result

Compare each employee's miles, drive time, time on site and finish time side by side. If one route looks heavy, move a pin or a percentage and optimize again. It takes seconds, and saved addresses are not looked up twice.

An example

Say you have 30 stops and three employees. One is new and should take about 20 percent of the work, one lives near the north end of the area, and one must do the four commercial accounts. Set percentages of 20, 40 and 40, give the north-side employee their home as a start, pin the commercial accounts, and optimize. Each route is grouped by area, the newer employee has a lighter day, and every constraint is visible on screen rather than in someone's head.

Questions

Can I split by percentage?

Yes, in steps of 10 percent that total 100. Each share is filled with stops close together.

What if an employee can only take 6 stops?

Set their stop limit to 6. Other employees absorb the rest, and anything that fits no one is listed.

Can some stops stay unassigned today?

Yes. In ZIP mode, set a ZIP to None and its stops stay on the plan but are left off today's routes.
