Plow routes ready before the first flake, with commercial lots first.

Snow contracts promise lots clear before opening. StopHarbor builds each truck's run in advance with the opening deadlines on the right stops, so the 3 a.m. start is about plowing, not deciding where to go.

The night before a storm

A small snow company may hold forty seasonal contracts: medical offices and retail lots that must be open by 7:00, church lots needed by Sunday, and residential driveways where the homeowner just wants to get out by 8:00. When the forecast firms up, the owner has to decide which truck does which property in which order. Doing that in your head at 2 a.m. is how the bank lot gets plowed after the bank opens.

A storm plan in StopHarbor

  • Keep your contract list as one saved plan per truck territory, and duplicate it for each event.
  • Give commercial lots an arrive-before time matching their opening, and residential drives a later window or none.
  • Set minutes on site per property: a big lot with a loader is not a single driveway.
  • Use Leaves at for the 3:00 start and Easiest driving so trucks with blades stay on main roads.
  • Assign shovel-only sidewalks to the walking crew's worker with its own start address.

When the storm changes

A second wave means a second pass. Duplicate the event plan, remove the properties that do not need a revisit, and recalculate. If a truck breaks down, remove that worker and the others pick up its properties, with lots that would miss their deadline listed so you can call those managers.

Honest limits

StopHarbor uses typical traffic, not storm conditions, so estimated arrival times will be early on a bad night. Use them for order, not promises. It does not log salt use or photo-verify service; keep your contract or proof-of-service app for that.

Questions

Can I keep the same route all winter?

Yes. Save each territory's plan and duplicate it for every event; properties, notes and settings carry over and visit status resets.

Do arrival estimates account for snow?

No. Drive times use typical traffic for clear roads. Treat the order as the plan and add margin to opening-time windows during heavy snow.

How many properties can one plan hold?

Solo is $19 a month for one worker and up to 40 stops per calculation. Team is $59 a month for up to ten route workers, three signed-in seats and 80 stops in total per calculation. The 14-day trial includes 300 stop computations.
